There are drinks that go beyond soothing the soul. Golden milk is one of them. With its warm color and enveloping aroma, this spice preparation has been part of Ayurvedic tradition for centuries and has now conquered kitchens around the world, and for good reason.
In our store, we have a specially balanced blend: turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and a touch of star anise that makes it unique. In this article, we tell you everything you need to know to prepare it at home and enjoy it to the fullest.
What is golden milk?
Golden milk, also known as golden milk or haldi doodh in India, is a warm drink made with milk (plant-based or cow's) and a blend of spices led by turmeric. Its name is not coincidental: that intense and bright yellow color comes precisely from turmeric, the most valued spice in the blend.
What started as a traditional remedy in Ayurvedic medicine has become one of the most popular functional beverages in Europe and America. And it’s not a passing trend: science supports many of its properties.
The 5 spices in our blend and why we chose them
Each spice in our blend has a specific role, both in flavor and benefits:
Turmeric: the golden heart
It is the star ingredient. Curcumin, its active compound, is widely studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential. It gives the drink its characteristic color and an earthy, slightly bitter flavor that balances the other spices.
Cinnamon: sweetness and warmth
It adds the sweet and comforting touch that makes this drink so enjoyable. Additionally, it helps balance blood glucose levels and has antibacterial properties. We use Ceylon cinnamon, which is milder and has lower coumarin content than cassia cinnamon.
Ginger: the spicy and digestive touch
Ginger adds a touch of freshness and a slight spiciness that activates the drink. It is a great digestive ally and has anti-inflammatory properties that perfectly complement turmeric.
Black pepper: the key to absorbing turmeric
This is something that many people do not know: piperine from black pepper increases the absorption of curcumin by up to 2000%. Without pepper, much of the benefits of turmeric are lost. That’s why it is an essential ingredient in any serious golden milk blend.
Star anise: our distinctive touch.
Here is the secret of our blend. Star anise adds a sweet and aromatic note with a slight licorice flavor that softens the whole and brings a complexity that you won't find in other standard blends. It also has digestive properties and is a great complement for cold nights.

2. Add the teaspoon of spice blend and coconut oil.
3. Stir well with a whisk or hand mixer for 2-3 minutes to integrate everything.
4. Remove from heat and sweeten to taste.
5. Serve in your favorite cup and enjoy slowly.
| Tip: If you have a milk frother or whisk, use it at the end to achieve that creamy and frothy texture that makes the drink even more appealing. |
Variations and customizations.
One of the best things about golden milk is that it adapts to all tastes:
• Vegan version: oat or coconut milk + agave syrup.
• Cold version (golden milk latte): prepare the mixture hot and serve it over ice.
• Energizing version: add half a teaspoon of maca powder.
• Relaxing nighttime version: add a pinch of cardamom and nutmeg.
When is the best time to take it?
There is no single ideal moment, but there are three situations where it shines especially:
• In the morning on an empty stomach: as an anti-inflammatory routine and to activate metabolism.
• In the afternoon, as a substitute for coffee: comforting without the stimulating effect of caffeine.
• At night before sleeping: star anise and cinnamon help to relax and facilitate rest.
